Human Resources Specialist

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Reports to: MCCAA Executive Director

 

Location: Human Resources Specialist will be assigned to the Murfreesboro & Lebanon offices with occasional travel throughout service area.

Job Summary:

  • Manages the recruitment, screening, interviewing, orientation, and onboarding process of staff in compliance with all regulatory agencies
    • Utilize online job boards for recruitment
    • Maintain Program website job posting
    • Oversee the scheduling and coordination of interviews
    • Oversee background check process for all contingent hires and five year follow-up
    • Schedule, coordinate, and conduct new hire orientation for all new employees
    • Partner with Education and Staff Development Team and on-site management to ensure seamless onboarding process
  • Manages the HRIS and the documentation and reporting system for employee time and attendance, leave information and documentation, personnel records, and other employee information consistent with State and Federal requirements, Head Start and Early Head Start regulations, DHS Licensing and Agency Policies and Procedures
    • Maintain and update personnel files ensuring personnel records contain current and accurate information as required by State and Federal law and various regulatory agencies
    • Assist with maintaining confidential records for worker’s compensation and Family Medical Leave.
  • Management of employee relations
    • Provide training and technical assistance to staff
    • Advise and support supervisors at all levels regarding personnel policies and human resource issues
    • Provide support to employees regarding all HR related questions and issues and escalating when necessary
    • Assist with workplace investigations and provide feedback to appropriate personnel
  • Provide Human Resources data reporting to regulatory agencies and Board of Directors
  • Provide assistance with updating Agency Personnel Policies and Procedures when applicable to comply with regulatory changes and changes in employment law
  • Assists with special projects and assignments
  • Attend and participate in meetings, work groups, team meetings, committees, workshops, individual training, and training conferences as assigned, which may include local, state, regional and national groups

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources Management, Business, or other related degree.
  • 3-5 years Human Resources Generalist experience
  • Employment law knowledge

Additional:

  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Head Start/Early Head Start experience preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, organizational skills, and the ability to oversee human resources function with minimal supervision
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications
  • Flexibility and adaptability is a must
